Experience the outdoors

Grahame Robb Associates (GRA) Outdoor Learning Centre is situated within the grounds of the De Vere Wokefield Estate in Reading, Berkshire, just a 4-minute walk from De Vere’s Wokefield Place Conference Centre, a modern and fully equipped training space and the estate's historic country Mansion House.

Our facility is one of the best equipped corporate events and team building centres in the UK and has the largest selection of high and low ropes course elements for team activities in Europe.

GRA utilises a proven and powerful experiential learning approach, using a series of outdoor and indoor exercises which are educational, fun and give businesses better results than traditional learning methods.

Why do we use outdoor and indoor activities?

GRA are strong advocates of using unique outdoor and indoor activities to help our customers achieve their full potential. These activities are effective because they are enjoyable in their own right – helping participants create memorable moments and internalise their practical learning experiences – but also because they are so radically different from what most people do in their day to day.

Engaging in bushcraft, archery, climbing, and other team challenges forces people to communicate in innovative ways, forging new connections and associations that support positive learning outcomes. Using the outdoors provides a highly stimulating environment within which to examine the fundamentals of working together as a team. In particular, it quickly allows teams to experience and learn about related risk-taking, creative problem solving, decision making, and collaboration, as well as handling conflict, developing resilience, testing leadership skills and measuring success.

A perfect location for team building

The site includes a wide range of modern equipment, activity spaces, and beautifully planted and cultivated wild areas, including:

40-foot climbing towers
Freefall powerfan experience
Linear high ropes course
Low ropes challenge course
Woodland laser combat area
Archery range
Team initiative exercises including GPS orienteering and bushcraft
2 woodland training rooms - fully equipped with refreshment areas and perfect for indoor conferences and training events

How to find us

By car: To get to our Outdoor Learning Centre by car, simply follow the instructions below:

Exit the M4 at Junction 11 and turn on to the A33, signposted Basingstoke
On the A33, go through the first set of lights and turn right at the second set
Immediately take the first exit towards Grazeley and Mortimer
After approx. 2.5 miles and a sharp right-hand bend over a railway bridge, you will see the entrance to Wokefield Estate on the right-hand side
Proceed down the long drive through the golf course. At the first roundabout take a left towards the Wokefield Place conference centre (a big modern building with a silver water feature at the front).
Follow the road around the building to the right and then to the left, keeping the Wokefield Place building on your left. You will drive past a large open lawn area on your right. Continue down the road towards the woods, keeping the golf course on your left. You will find us at the bottom of this road.

By train: For delegates arriving by train, the closest station is Mortimer (MOR) in the nearby village of Stratfield Mortimer, just 1.8 miles from our facility. There are regular train services from Reading and London. A door-to-door taxi journey takes around four minutes.
