Why are some teams filled with able people unable to function effectively, yet other teams with less able people function very well and overachieve? Experience has shown that every team member makes two contributions to a team. One is a functional role using their experience, skills and knowledge and the other is a team role which focuses on how their personality gels with others.
Belbin Team Roles
Belbin Team Roles is an assessment tool which helps us understand why some individuals perform well in some teams and yet not in others. It also analyses why some teams that were succeeding start to falter when recruiting a new team member.
Discover your individual behavioural strengths and allowable weaknesses so that you can identify the roles you most naturally fulfil in a team or areas of development to help drive your team forward. More importantly, help your colleagues learn about themselves and engage with their own strengths and allowable weaknesses.
Belbin is certainly far more than just nine team roles and a means to label people. It is a common language which has helped individuals and teams to communicate and work together more effectively and with greater understanding for over 30 years.
We offer a workshop which combines practical activities with the Belbin Team Roles theory. It brings each one of the nine roles to life by exploring participants’ unique contributions to a team. Each team exercise is designed to analyse the self-perception and observers feedback of each team member and how that plays out in the workplace.
Our Belbin Team Roles programme will enable participants to:
- Explore Belbin Team Roles theory and what it means to them
- Recognise their contribution to a team
- Understand the impact of their strengths and allowable weakness
- Consider their preferred and manageable contributions to a team
- Manage their role in the overall team dynamic
